Materials Science Department
This department undertakes physical and chemical tests and analyses on various products including chemical-based materials, water, textile, paper, petroleum products, base oil lubricants, and plastic products. By design, there are six (6) testing laboratories under the department:
1 General Chemistry Laboratory – which undertakes chemicals tests on a wide range of products including household chemicals, paints, fertilizers, etc.
2 Petroleum Laboratory – which undertakes chemical analyses on petroleum products, base oil lubricants, and related products.
3 Water Laboratory – which undertakes chemical analyses on water samples (e.g. waste water, process water, industrial effluent water, surface water) to ascertain quality and level of compliance to applicable standards and regulations.
4 Textiles and Leather Laboratory – which undertakes physical and chemical tests on textiles, leather and related products.
5 Polymer and Plastics Laboratory – which undertakes physical tests on plastics, polymer and paper products to ascertain quality (fitness for use or purpose).
Note: Currently, only the Petroleum Laboratory has been established in this department.
In the not too distant future, the Testing Division intends to establish and operate other departments including:
